What Is Prescription Renewal?

What Is Prescription Renewal?

Prescription Renewal is a new feature on NimbleRx, that helps your patients stay on their medication when they've run out of refills. Instead of the prescription running out, Prescription Renewal lets patients request a new one directly through NimbleRx. No extra phone calls or paperwork on their end, and a clearly labeled task on yours.

Prescription Renewal is an extension of the refill feature you already use, not a replacement for it.

‍

How It Works for Your Pharmacy

When one of your patients has zero refills remaining on an eligible medication, they can submit a Prescription Renewal. That request shows up in your NimbleRx dashboard as a Prescription Renewal Task, separate from standard refill tasks, so your team can spot it right away.

‍

The patient can request:

  • Their current dosage: A straightforward continuation of what they're already taking, or
  • A titrated (next-step) dosage: When the medication allows for a dose increase

‍

Your team reviews and processes the task the same way you would a refill, confirm the details, and move it forward.

‍

Who Will See Prescription Renewal Tasks

Prescription Renewal is launching for a small group of medications, with the potential to expand over time as the program grows.

  • You'll only see Prescription Renewal Tasks if you have patients on an eligible medication.
  • We'll notify you as additional medications are added.
  • If none of your patients fall into that group yet, you won't notice any change to your day-to-day workflow.

‍

What You'll See in Your Dashboard

  • A new, clearly labeled task type: Prescription Renewal Tasks appear alongside your existing refill tasks, easy to tell apart at a glance
  • Task details included upfront: Each Prescription Renewal Task will include the requested prescription along with the patient's provider information, so your team has what it needs to process the request
  • Built-in guidance right where you need it: Short tips and walkthroughs appear directly in the dashboard the first time you encounter a Prescription Renewal Task, so there's nothing extra to go learn beforehand
