Cleaner Pickup Status for Your Patients

Cleaner Pickup Status for Your Patients

Retail pickup orders now show a simpler, clearer status so patients always know when their order will be ready and where to pick it up — reducing confusion and unnecessary calls to your pharmacy.

1. Overview

Previously, retail pickup orders showed a multi-step "in progress" status that could confuse patients — even when their medication was already filled and waiting on the shelf. The status now has two simple stages: Placed and Ready for pickup. Patients also see an expected ready date so they know when to come in before they even check out.

2. What Changed

Before:Placed → In Progress → Ready for pickup → Complete

After:Placed → Ready for pickup → Complete

The intermediate "in progress" steps are gone. The expected ready date is calculated automatically based on your pharmacy's settings — not by when your team marks the pickup task complete at the counter.

3. What Patients See

Patients see the updated status in three places:

  • Before checkout
  • After checkout
  • On their order status and detail page

At each of these, patients also see:

  • Their expected ready date — displayed as Ready today, Starting tomorrow, or Starting MM/DD
  • Your pharmacy's pickup address
  • Your pharmacy's operating hours

4. How the Expected Ready Date Is Calculated

The expected ready date is computed automatically based on:

  • Your pharmacy's configured pickup window
  • Any compound medication buffer you have set
  • Your pharmacy's holiday and closed day schedule — the date automatically rolls forward to the next open day if needed

If no pickup window is configured, a same-day fallback is used.

5. What This Means for Your Pharmacy

  • No action required — this update applies automatically to all eligible retail pickup orders
  • The expected ready date is driven by your existing pharmacy settings — keeping those up to date ensures patients see accurate information
  • Your pickup task workflow is unchanged — the status patients see is no longer tied to when your team completes the pickup task at the counter

6. Who This Applies To

Order type Affected
Retail pickup orders through checkout Yes
Orders containing a compound item Yes — compound buffer is included in the expected ready date calculation
Specialty pharmacy orders No
Delivery orders No
Refills Yes
