Silencing Refill Reminders for Specific Medication Categories
To help you reduce "messaging noise" and prevent patient confusion, you can now choose to silence automated refill reminders for specific categories of medicine.
Why Use This Feature?
Some medications are taken "as needed" (PRN) or for short-term issues (like acute pain or muscle spasms). Because these don't follow a fixed schedule, automated reminders can sometimes annoy patients or lead to unwanted refill requests.
By silencing these categories, you can keep your automated refills running for maintenance medications (like blood pressure or cholesterol meds) while stopping reminders for things like cough syrup or rescue inhalers.
What Changes for Your Pharmacy?
- Custom Control: Pharmacy Owners and PICs can toggle reminders on or off for specific categories in the Pharmacy Dashboard.
- No More Accidental Reminders: If a category is silenced, Nimble will stop sending proactive "Is it time for a refill?" texts for those drugs.
- Manual Requests Still Work: Patients can still manually request a refill through their app if they actually run out, but Nimble won't "prompt" them to do so.
- Clean Queue: This prevents your PMS from filling up with refill requests for medications the patient doesn't actually need yet.

Manageable Categories
You can now turn reminders ON or OFF for categories including:
- Respiratory: Cough/Cold/Rescue inhalers.
- Mental Health: As-needed anxiety or sleep medications.
- Gastrointestinal: Anti-nausea or antacids.
- Musculoskeletal: Muscle relaxants or gout treatments.
- Medical Supplies: Needles, test strips, and bandages.
- Urology: Erectile dysfunction medications.
What the Patient Sees
If you silence a category (for example, Respiratory):
- The patient will not get a text 3 days before their Albuterol inhaler is "due."
- The patient will not be asked to set a refill preference for that item during checkout.
- The patient can still go into their "Prescriptions" tab and click "Request Refill" if they need a new one.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do I change these settings?
Log in to your Pharmacy Dashboard as an Owner or PIC. Navigate to your Refill Settings to see the list of categories you can toggle.
Will this affect my "Maintenance" medications?
No. Categories like heart health, diabetes, and chronic conditions are not included in these silence-able categories, ensuring your most important refills stay on track.
Why don't I see "Antibiotics" or "Pain Meds" on the list?
To protect your pharmacy’s volume and follow specific safety rules, some categories are managed automatically by Nimble and cannot be toggled manually at this time.
Does this apply to both Connect and Collect pharmacies?
Yes. This update works across all Nimble pharmacy types.
