DigitalRx API Integration: Overview & Setup

Nimble’s DigitalRx API Integration connects your DigitalRx Pharmacy Management System (PMS) directly to Nimble.

By replacing old file transfers (SFTP) with a modern API, this integration gives you:

  • Real-Time Sync: Patient and prescription updates are pushed to Nimble instantly, ensuring your dashboard is always accurate.
  • Automated Refill Requests: When a patient requests a refill in Nimble, the request is sent directly to your DigitalRx Rx Request Queue.
  • Improved Reliability: The API connection is more stable than traditional file uploads, significantly reducing "sync failures" or data delays.

How It Works

  1. Data Import: DigitalRx automatically "pushes" new patient and prescription information to Nimble as changes occur.
  2. Refill Routing: Patient refill requests move from the Nimble app directly into your internal DigitalRx workflow.
  3. Parallel Support: If you are currently on our older SFTP connection, Nimble maintains that connection until your pharmacy is fully transitioned to the API to ensure no service gaps.

Setup & Requirements

  • Activation: Most of the setup is handled by the Nimble Integrations team.
  • Credentials: You may be asked to provide specific API credentials or "enable" Nimble within your DigitalRx settings. Your Implementation Manager will provide a step-by-step guide if action is required.
  • Configuration: Settings are managed via Nimble’s internal tools to ensure your specific pharmacy rules (like specific signal overrides) remain intact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I still see my refills in the DigitalRx queue?

Yes. All refill requests from Nimble land directly in your existing DigitalRx Rx Request Queue for processing.

Q: Does this sync my "Sold" status or signatures back to DigitalRx?

Not yet. Currently, this integration handles inbound data (DigitalRx to Nimble) and refill requests. Recording signatures and transaction status back into DigitalRx must still be done manually within your PMS.

Q: What do I do if I see a data mismatch?

Because the API is near-real-time, mismatches are rare. If you notice a discrepancy, please contact Nimble Support with the specific Rx number for a quick sync audit.
