How NimbleRx Helps Laird Leavoy Keep Track of Every Prescription

Laird Leavoy understands independent pharmacy from both sides. As president of American Pharmacies (APRx), he has seen the importance of helping community pharmacies build stronger connections with their patients. But he has also experienced that connection personally: as a patient using NimbleRx through his hometown pharmacy in Texas.

‍

A simpler way to manage every prescription

‍

His experience began during a difficult period after undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. Laird was taking a significant number of medications, and keeping track of them plus coordinating with his pharmacy could have added another layer of complexity. Instead, NimbleRx gave him one place to manage his prescriptions and stay connected with the pharmacy team.

‍

“The NimbleRx app just makes it so easy, and they can ship me prescriptions,” Laird says. “I can look at everything in the app, and they’ll text me through here and ask, ‘Do you want to come pick it up? Do you want to mail it?’ I’ll let them know I want to mail it.”

‍

That flexibility has been especially valuable because Laird’s pharmacy is about an hour away. Rather than making long trips or playing phone tag, he can use the app to communicate what works best for him.

‍

“Before I started using the app, I had to call, and they’d have to call me and ask ‘Do you want to mail it? Do you want to do this?’” he says. “The app just took all that out of there and made it a streamlined process.”

‍

The app has also helped Laird keep a clear record of his medications, something he brings to his medical appointments.

‍

“When I go to the doctor, I’ve got a complete listing right here,” he says. “I don’t have to build my own list anymore, it’s right here in the app. It just makes things very, very easy. It helps me keep track of everything.”

‍

For Laird, that visibility has made managing his medication easier throughout his recovery. As his treatment ended and the number of medications he needed began to decrease, NimbleRx remained a useful tool for keeping everything organized.

‍

“It’s been a big tool for me,” he says. “The way it allows me to interact with the pharmacy staff, even though they’re a big pharmacy, and they’re moving fast, is just perfect.”

‍

More than a convenient way to manage prescriptions, Laird sees NimbleRx as a tool that can support the relationship between independent pharmacies and the patients they serve.

‍

“I think everything about it is going to make it a better relationship with the pharmacy and the patient,” he says. “But ultimately, it’s going to lead to better outcomes for the patients, period. That’s the ultimate goal, right? I know, because I’ve lived it.”

‍

A partnership centered on patients

‍

Together, APRx and NimbleRx are focused on helping independent pharmacies strengthen their connections with patients while making prescription management more streamlined for both sides.

‍

“First of all, the partnership is based on the people involved and your people our outstanding. We’ve got a great cultural fit. Secondly, you’re helping us with this technology. You’re helping us to achieve our mission statement, which is to protect, defend, and enhance the independent retail business model. Period,” said Laird.

‍

The goal is a more connected experience that supports the needs of independent pharmacies and the patients they serve.

‍

“Ultimately, the bottom line is that NimbleRx is positively impacting patient outcomes by helping people take their prescriptions properly. That’s a big deal,” Laird says.

‍

For independent pharmacists, Laird’s experience shows the value of making medication management easier for patients. NimbleRx gives patients a simpler way to view their prescriptions, communicate with the pharmacy about pickup or delivery, and keep track of their medications, all while strengthening the relationship at the center of community pharmacy.
